    Solar Panel Mounts

Pleasantly surprised and how well these work for my 100w solar panel on my Taxa Tiger Moth. I prefer non permanent solutions to mounting on this camper since the frame and existing racks are occupied by other gear. The arm portion is flexible enough to be easily adjusted when I want, yet sturdy enough to keep the panel in place.

I am using 2 of the mounts and feel this solution is adequate for a single larger panel. 3 mounts would be ideal especially in the event that one of the vacuum seals fails; one mount would not have enough strength for a panel this large. I did; however, intentionally secure one of the mounts halfway on/off the paper sticker on the back of the panel just to see how the seal would perform and it held with only minimal seal degradation after 30 minutes (half pump to get it back to full seal). Eventually the seal would fail, but it leaves room for user error or imperfectly flat surfaces.

Overall, the price point is worth the solution. I purchased another mount specifically for a weBoost after testing these solar panel/tablet mounts. Last note, I do not suggest driving with the panel mounted as the natural movement during transit would jostle the arm and the panel would hit the vehicle - stationary use only in my opinion.

    Prevent door damage

The Solar Flex Mount we purchased is being used to prevent our RV door from swinging wildly when it is open. The suction cups seem to hold well and the staff between the two cups is rigid enough to meet our needs! Very pleased with product.

    Game Changer

These are phenomenal for holding my flexible solar panel that I backed with plexiglass. Allows me to charge my battery while on a mooring. Held up to 25 knot winds and 2" of rain.

FAQS

“Strong like bull.” 4.5” vacuum mounts have a rated pull strength of 120lbs, pulling straight out from center. Pull strength on a shear load, i.e. pulling from the side, will be less. 6” vacuum mounts are 210lbs rated. Obviously, putting multiple vacuum mounts on a single product multiplies the maximum holding power.

There’s no set time limit on our vacuum mounts. It depends in part on the surface you attach to, the condition of the vacuum mount, the load you put on it, and other factors. As for surfaces to attach to, vacuum mounts in general were designed to carry big sheets of glass and other solid surface materials, so smoother, flatter surfaces are ideal. Clean surfaces and clean SeaSuckers go a long way to maximizing the hold time. In any event, if the vacuum mount begins to lose some vacuum, it will warn you so you can get it back to full power before it comes off. The vacuum pump’s plunger will extend from the pump cylinder when it starts to lose power, revealing an orange indicator band. Once you see orange, that’s your cue to repump your SeaSucker. For car racks, the simplest thing to do is to check the rack before you get in your vehicle, and check it each time you stop for gas, food, or the bathroom.

Clean off any surface dirt from the mounting surface before attaching your SeaSucker. While you’re at it, make sure the sealing edge of the vacuum pad is clean too. You don’t have to clean the mounting surface with alcohol wipes, as one overly-enthusiastic customer told us they do, but a quick wipe with a wet paper towel or napkin wouldn’t hurt. Let us make it easy for you: get one of our Cleaning Kits.

No, the HDPE and the raw materials we use to manufacture our vacuum mounts all have a high-performance UV inhibitor built in. Your SeaSucker products should look good for years.
