- - It is recommended that you mount the RotopaX Tank Holder on a vertical surface (back glass on SUV, side window of van) with the mounts stacked vertically.
- Q: How strong are the vacuum mounts?
- A: “Strong like bull.” 4.5” vacuum mounts have a rated pull strength of 120lbs, pulling straight out from center. Pull strength on a shear load, i.e. pulling from the side, will be less. 6” vacuum mounts are 210lbs rated. Obviously, putting multiple vacuum mounts on a single product multiplies the maximum holding power.
- Q: How long do the vacuum mounts last before they lose power?
- A: There’s no set time limit on our vacuum mounts. It depends in part on the surface you attach to, the condition of the vacuum mount, the load you put on it, and other factors. As for surfaces to attach to, vacuum mounts in general were designed to carry big sheets of glass and other solid surface materials, so smoother, flatter surfaces are ideal. Clean surfaces and clean SeaSuckers go a long way to maximizing the hold time. In any event, if the vacuum mount begins to lose some vacuum, it will warn you so you can get it back to full power before it comes off. The vacuum pump’s plunger will extend from the pump cylinder when it starts to lose power, revealing an orange indicator band. Once you see orange, that’s your cue to repump your SeaSucker. For car racks, the simplest thing to do is to check the rack before you get in your vehicle, and check it each time you stop for gas, food, or the bathroom.
- Q: Do I need to clean the surface I’m going to attach my SeaSucker to?
- A: Clean off any surface dirt from the mounting surface before attaching your SeaSucker. While you’re at it, make sure the sealing edge of the vacuum pad is clean too. You don’t have to clean the mounting surface with alcohol wipes, as one overly-enthusiastic customer told us they do, but a quick wipe with a wet paper towel or napkin wouldn’t hurt. I've had the RotopaX Tank Holder on my 4-door JK for about a month and they are holding on extremely well. Within that month they took a 3000 mile round trip from Central Ohio to Deadwood, South Dakota. During the trip they experienced: Interstate 70 across Indiana (IYKYK), extreme gusty head winds crossing South Dakota on Interstate 90, and moderate to heavy wheeling during the Black Hills Jeepers Jamboree. I am very happy with these mounts and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a simple solution to secure rotopaXs to your rig.

I have had this product on my car on and off for about 2000 miles. This includes highway driving, off-roading and rainy conditions, and never once did it leave me worried. One initial suction pump was enough for a full 2gal rotopax to stay put over 400+ miles! Nice to have on roadtrips and trail adventures so you can take a break to refuel, and can be removed with ease, compared to other rotopax mounts. Phenomenal product in every single aspect.

It's time to select the right HUSKE Plugs to fit your bike. If you don’t know what front hub your bike has, it’s not that hard to figure out - all you have to do is measure it.
First, get a ruler or tape measure showing millimeters (sorry Americans, the bike world is firmly in the grip of METRIC TYRANNY!).
Step 1: measure the diameter of the hole at the end of your forks - it will be either 9mm, 12mm, 15mm or 20mm.
Step 2: measure the distance between the holes on your fork - it will be either 100mm or 110mm. Now purchase the HUSKE Plugs that match your measurements. There’s a color coded chart below that will help you make sure you’re buying the right set.
